If you’re a British person in London or a tourist its often the case that you are drawn to the idea of popping into a local pub for a hearty Sunday roast. And from traditional pub roasts to an elegant Sunday outing, there’s no shortage of options to choose from in London.
We’ve got everything you need to know right here if you’re on the lookout for your next Sunday roast experience. These 5 options offer a brilliant Sunday roast in London.
The Princess Victoria, Shepherd’s Bush
The Princess Victoria is as elegant as its name suggests. Built nearly a hundred years ago as a gin palace, the pub remains true to its history, offering almost a century of gin options. The Sunday roasts from this all-inclusive bar aren’t as widely known, but they should be as its one of the best in London.
Put together with ingredients sourced from local producers exclusively; their Sunday roasts are 100% free-range. Served with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables, you’ll probably be torn between the roast chicken with bread sauce, roast beef, or a vegetarian nut roast with Yorkshire pudding. Expect to pay anywhere from £14 to £18 for a hearty portion, then walk it off with a stroll at Wendell Park when you’re fully satisfied by this excellent choice.

Alice House, West Hampstead
Just a 10-minute tube ride from Wembley Park, Alice House in West Hampstead offers an ideal spot for a good place to visit with a friend or loved one. We love that Alice House’s Sunday roast menu is only available “until it’s gone,” and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more extensive menu elsewhere in London. From chicken to lamb and even mushroom pithivier options, you’ll still be paying a fair market price of between £16 to £20 regardless of what you order. Leave room for something from their long list of sides and desserts too. Another amazing fact about this venue is that Camden Art Center is right around the corner and open until 6pm on Sundays worth a visit for Art Lovers.

The White Horse, Wembley
Our first recommended roast stop is right on the doorstep of Wembley stadium. The White Horse is part of the beloved Fullers network, which actually offers some of the best Sunday roasts in the local area.
All the roast meat is sourced from the UK exclusively, from Norfolk chicken with pork, chestnut and apricot stuffing, to South Coast pork loin with some amazing crackling, and bigger groups can also order a larger portion of whole roast chicken or sirloin of beef to share between them. What’s more, everything on the pub’s Sunday menu comes with all the expected trimmings – from roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding to red wine gravy and cauliflower cheese.

The Cleveland Arms, Paddington
Another pub that has been around for hundreds of years, The Cleveland Arms opened its doors all the way back in 1852. A popular choice in the Paddington community, the pub is a local and tourist favourite venue all through the year. Homely and inviting, this pub is open to anybody on the hunt for a pint of ale and a good meal. Their Sunday roast menu is put together with some of the best seasonal ingredients, suggesting that they are more popular for their Sunday roasts than most in the area. As such, you should pre-book to guarantee a table when you arrive.
From roasted Suffolk chicken alongside cheesy leeks or spiced cauliflower vegetarian alternative, you’ll find modern twists on this menu. Don’t worry; you’ll still get roast potatoes, cabbage and some Yorkshire pudding too. Expect to pay anywhere from £16 to £19.

Boxcar Butcher & Grill, Marylebone
Boxcar Butcher & Grill is locally run and proud to call themselves an ethical restaurant that is all about high-quality! They have two locations: one for their bakery and deli, the other for the bar and kitchen. Make sure you visit the latter, as otherwise you may have to end up with a loaf of bread instead of a Sunday roast.
From wild mushroom Wellington to roast sirloin and even slow-roasted pork belly, the menu doesn’t disappoint, and each of their roasts is served with a hearty serving of seasonal vegetables and some amazing garlic and sage potatoes. Expect to pay a similar price as elsewhere – from £16 to £20 – but be warned: it’s impossible to resist their sticky toffee pudding. Top of the trip with an afternoon stroll to the nearby British Museum
